What's your long term plan? Let's say 5 years from now.
For me, I've got a large range of vehicles planned.
DD: '08 Escalade, Full retard Lexani everything. This one for reliability, Baller status, and Pimp status. All in one. Also, don't judge me, Haha.
Winter Car: My '97 A4. Dependable as fuck, and Quattro.
Very unreliable weekend toy: '02 Maserati Coupe GT, 6-Speed manual. When out of service, lots of other vehicles to use in it's place. (Or an NSX, 911 or Lotus.)
Motorcycle: Ducati 899 Panigale. Perfect in red, Looks sexy, Right amount of performance.
Fun All Around car: Audi S4 Avant, B5.

Long term? Five years? Gotta be that Saab or Subie life, baby. Either a 9-3 or a Legacy GT.

My Grand Marquis which did over 22,000 miles (to 94,100 currently) in 2014 will have hit 200k miles and been retired from daily driver status. It will become my project, getting a wide variety of upgrades from Kona Blue paint to 18" mustang wheels to a full Coyote 5.0 V8 swap. My Nissan Note will paid off and probably traded for some sort of "fun" vehicle that will become my DD, such as a 350Z or a Ford Explorer Ironman.

That sounds awesome! 6-Speed swapped Panther? Just keep it a sleeper, Haha.

It won't be a sleeper, its been a granny geared beige land yacht for 8 years and will be for 5 more. There aren't any pictures of my plans because literally no one does this to late model Grand Marqs, but it will basically the second coming of the Marauder.

5 year plan. Hmm...
Probably hope to keep the GP for as long at least 5 years, buy a cheap project car and learn to wrench, all the while save up money to buy a 2 series. Nothing too special here.

Why must you make my life more difficult?

Haha, same. I treat everybody exactly the same, Geo Prism or Lambo.
Without the Lexani bits?

wife gets a new subie next year, (probably a Crosstrek,) after that I need something faster before I get old... I love my little 2.3 Mazda 3, hoping for a new speed3 or maybe a WRX if the get their act together and make a hatch version. Maybe a used C6 Grandsport if I get really stupid.

in five years I'll either have to decide to keep the TL long term and drop some money into it for timing belt service or trade it in for something different. I'll probably be ready for something different by then anyway. Hopefully I'll have flipped the mr2 by then as well...

Well, I'm planning to teach overseas in about 1 1/2 more years. So I probobly won't have a car in 5 years. However when I come back to the states, 2008 caymans will probably be in the low $20,000s so I might buy one then!

I plan to swap the '98 Outback for an SG Forester XT in the next year or so, and if I have the space, I'd love to have a Datsun 240z/260z as a long-term restomod project.

DD: Used Honda Civic, reliable and good on gas so it's ok.
Winter Car: 80 series Land Cruiser, what more could you want in the winter.
Weekend Car: 6th gen Camaro, in 5 years a used 6th gen, shouldn't be too expensive.
Logansteno: Bought a VW?

5 years from now I will be 21 and hope to have at least two cars, maybe three.
DD: Something sporty, but with 4 doors. E90 or F30 3-series most likely.
Winter "beater": Who knows, maybe my goddamn van. If not, a GMT800 Tahoe Z71.
Fun weekend project car: Some sort of unreliable old British roadster. Triumph TR6 maybe.

Build my own MX5 Superlight for track days.
Have either a Ram or a Tundra for my trucking stuff.
Keep my Accord going for 1,000,000 miles.

I'm (sort of) planning trade the Golf for a GTI in a couple of years and I'd like to keep my e30 as a fun/project car. Beyond that, I'll probably pick up something else along the way. I could see myself having a use for a truck (Tacoma perhaps) at some point and I might get myself on a bike within that timeframe as well. A Ducati scrambler or the like appeals to me.
Never know but those are fairly realistic, if a little vague, goals.

1. Pay off my BRZ. Keep it. Do some autocross and HPDE events with it once I get some decent tires on that thing.
2. Once I have space for multiple vehicles again, pick up a winter beater / rallycross car. Maybe an Impreza or older Legacy. Maybe something else - I followed a 318ti most of the way home from work tonight, and I love those.
3. Rent a rally car and enter a rally, just once. If the interest and budget are still there, buy a "cheap" old pre-built rally car and enter more.

current fleet:
550i (selling in a few weeks)
540iT - had it for 2 weeks, already did one trip. love it and probably never sell. hopefully turbo'd in 5 years. if its gone, cts-v wagon. I am a full convert to the wagon lifestyle already
grand wagoneer - my wife and I are fighting like hell to sell/keep. in 5 years I hope I have it with a diesel swap
wife's x3 - gone soon I hope. no idea what we'll have. she wants a tahoe...
e30 - keep keep keep. Actually trying to get this dd'able
then get some kind of sports car. older 911 (like 964 or 930 older,) or maybe a corvette?
Also probably keep the honda 919 and yamaha dirt bike I have. the 919 is the perfect bike for casual rider. There was some magazine that reviewed it and used the tagline "the solution for real world riding" - its that damn good. For the dirt bike, I want to get the jeep fixed up enough to use a hitch hauler for it. There is an offroad park/shooting range/camp ground about 30 minutes from the house that combo would be perfect for...

Going to have two A/S4s? But I do like your bike. I'm going to start riding in the spring, by 5 years out though I should be onto something like this.
BMW R-something, kind of the opposite direction of that Ducati. Still planning on upgrading the car situation in a less than a year. Hopefully the Abarth Miata will be out then, if not the actual ND Miata or a used Z4 are high on my list.
and hopefully not too long after a new car I'll get a winter beater …. but 5 years out is a long time. So maybe new Wrangler? I'm a Jeep fan, they always look "new" for 10 years and that would make for the perfect well rounded stable IMO.

Lotus Elise or Exige in the next couple of months. Manual CTS-V and/or Chevy SS in the next 2 years or so. Maybe a C6 Z06, C7, Focus RS, and/ or Ultima GTR in the next 5 years. Want to buy an airplane and house at some point in life, so it may change.

5 Years?
Come on. I has an LS400. It'll last for 5 decades.
But in all seriousness, i have no idea. I would love to import an AW11 MR2 and Toyota Sera. Mrs Aya is getting her Maserati Ghibli S Q4. And I think that's all about it.

Let's see:
I've already got a huge and comfy utility/offroad vehicle with my Wagoneer. It needs to be cleaned up and have some rust patched.
I've got my classic muscle car father&son project with my Cutlass. It just needs some 442 suspension parts and a limited slip to be complete after I fix one more rust bubble.
Looks like I need something with a removable roof to complete the collection. I'm thinking Triumph tr6, a project Corvette, or a Studebaker Lark.
I'd also like a pre-war car/hot-rod, but I don't know if I can afford one that I like with a roof that comes off.
A dual sport motorcycle is also on the want list.

DD: It would be a massive gas mileage improvement
Mods: Maybe a tire upgrade, some sort of kayak rack.
Toy: Current 4Runner with 1KZ-TE and manual swap, solid axle swap on the front(but keep it's coil set-up for comfort and steering advantages), re-do the interior to match JDM factory Recaro's.
Maybe purchase a car at some point, maybe not.

DD: Pre-owned Focus ST w/ ST3 package. I love it, but I don't $30,000 love it.
Weekend: Integra GS-R sedan, just like my old one except without the valve noise, leaks, and the whole "being stolen" business.
Others: Integra LS decoy/parts car, but I'll probably fall in love with it and not strip it out. Then buy another car and the cycle repeats.

Five years? My SPG will be completed and I'll already be on my third or fourth transmission. We'll still have the Dakota but, with a SAS, lift and lockers, will be more of a toy than a truck. The wife should have her 1500 EcoDiesel by then and I'll either still be driving the S40 or we'll have traded it in on an XF (probably a CPO XFR)

Realistically in 2-5 years I'm looking at still owning one car, but replacing the Cobalt with something. So one car to fit the DD, Toy & Winter categories. I know I'm going to have to compromise somewhere, but the question is where should I make that compromise? I could go with something, comfortable, practical and efficient like a Subaru Legacy or something less comfortable, impractical and efficient like a Miata. Who knows, my mind changes daily lol.

Well, by next year I'm either trading in my Golf for an A-Class Merc or getting my second car and keeping the VW for an extra year or two...
If I get the second car I plan on getting a W211 Mercedes E350 (to avoid the fancy, but probably expensive suspension) and just keep it as a tourer/car-for-when-I-wanna-feel-fancy car, something that I can put any amount of miles and don't care about resale value, and just keep it and have a car that may be a classic later...
By 2019 I fully expect to have either a 3rd car, something like an old Boxter or a 911, or have a new-ish GLA/GLK or Q3
